Body of hat:

Round 1: knit around, sm. -- 84 (96) sts

Rep round 1 until hat is 12” long from beginning.

NOTE: the brim of this hat is a 2” folded under brim. You can use whichever method of bind off and sewing you prefer, but in this pattern the technique preferred is to whipstitch the hem to the live stitches. Because the hat is worked in the round, it may help to move sections of stitches to a double pointed needle for this. Or move all stitches to a contrast yarn for ease of movement.

Cut yarn, leaving a very long tail for sewing hem. Thread yarn onto yarn needle.

NOTE: Turn hat inside out. mark a round 4” up on the wrong side of the hat. If it helps, weave a contrast color of yarn through this row, or mark it with several pins or split ring stitch markers to make sure you sew the live stitches consistently to the correct round. Starting with the first st to the left of the tail, insert your needle up through the first live stitch, up through the first purl bump on the round 4” up, down through the next purl bump to the left on same round, and down through the same live stitch, and remove from knitting needle. (First st bound off and sewn to hem). *Insert needle up through next live stitch, up in the same purl bump as worked prior, down through the next purl bump to the left, and down through the same live stitch (another st bound off and sewn to hem). Rep from * around until all live stitches are bound off and hem is sewn. Weave in loose ends.

Wash, block to finished measurements and let dry.

Thank you for choosing to knit and crochet Kristin Omdahl patterns! I know that you have thousands of choices for buying yarn and body care products. I want you to know what makes MY products special, and feel good about shopping the Kristin Omdahl brand.

Kristin Omdahl products have a heart! That’s right, a portion of every sale supports the charity I established: Project Kristin Cares.

I am a survivor of domestic violence, a hugely hidden problem in our society. You, or someone you know, has been affected by it, or is still suffering now. Statistics show that 1 in 3 women, and 1 in 4 men have been victims of domestic violence during their lifetimes.

But because it is so rarely discussed, I always felt like I was alone. One of the worst parts for me was that feeling of loneliness and having a dirty secret that had to be hidden.

Through my charity, Project Kristin Cares, we can make a difference in the lives of people who have been affected by domestic violence. I want to share the message that victims are not at fault, not alone and should not be embarrassed to share their stories.

Kristin Omdahl products are beautiful, thoughtful and valuable. But even more importantly, every time you purchase a product from my company, a portion of the sale supports Project Kristin Cares. Please help me knock out domestic violence, one sale at a time.

xoxo, Kristin
