This is the fifth crochet square pattern of 6 for the Springtime Afghan CAL, a collaboration with Yolanda Soto Lopez and Kristin Omdahl. This particular square is designed and taught by Kristin.

Square 5 of 6, Springtime Afghan CAL
Materials: Kristin Omdahl Yarns Be So Sporty, 100% bamboo; 325 yds per 4oz; sport weight yarn. Colors: Chantilly Lace (A), Sun Kissed Yellow (B), Crushed Berries (C), Passionate Plum (D)
F/5 (3.75mm) crochet hook
Finished size: 6″ square
Special stitch instructions:
2-dc cluster: *yo, insert hook in specified st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook* (2 loops rem). Rep from * to * once more (3 loops rem). Yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook.
Round 1: ch4, slst to 4th ch from hook to form ring. Ch3 (counts as dc), work 15 dc in same ring. Slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. — 16 sts
Round 2: ch4 (counts as dc, ch1), (dc, ch1)x15, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. — 16 sts
Round 3: slst into first ch1 sp, ch1, sc in same st, *ch2, (sc, ch7, sc) in next ch1 sp, ch2, sc in next ch1 sp. Rep from * around to last ch1 sp: ch2, (sc, ch7, sc) in last ch1 sp, ch2, slst to top of first st at beg of round to join. — 8 ch7 sps
Round 4: ch1, sc in same st, in next ch7 sp work (6dc, ch3, 6dc), skip 1 sc, sc in next st. Rep from * around, replace last st with slst to first st at beg of round to join. — 8 ch3 sps. Fasten off.
Round 5: Join second color yarn in any ch3 sp with a slst. Ch1, 3sc in same sp, *ch5, 2dc-cluster in 4th and 10th st from hook, ch5, (dc, ch5, dc) in next ch3 sp, ch5, 2dc-cluster in 4th and 10th st from hook, ch5, 3sc in next ch3 sp. Rep from * around, ch2, dc in first sc at beg of round (counts as last ch5 sp). 8 2dc-clusters
Round 6: ch1, sc in same sp, (ch5, sc in next ch5sp)x2, *(ch5, dc)x2 in next ch5 sp, (ch5, sc in next ch5 sp)x4. Rep from * around, except on last rep end with ch5, sc in last ch5 sp, ch5, slst to first st at beg of round to join. Fasten off.
