Cypress Key Wrap | Ad-Free PDF Crochet Pattern

What you will need:

  • 1360 yds (1243m) #5 bulky weight yarn
  • H/8 (5mm) crochet hook
  • yarn needle
  • scissors

Shown in:

Lion Brand Jiffy Bundle Yarn; #5 bulky weight 100% acrylic yarn; 681 yds (623m) per 14.5 oz (410g); color Seafoam, 2 balls.

Gauge: 

Each motif is 9 in (22.8cm) square, after blocking.

Finished Size:

Each side is 54 in (137.2cm) long x 27 in (68.6cm) wide.

Stitch Guide: 

Chain (ch), slip stitch (slst), double crochet (dc), single crochet (sc), and 2 double crochet cluster (2dc-cl).

Pattern notes: 

  • Weave in loose ends as work progresses
  • Turn work at the end of each row.
  • Do not turn work at the end of each round.
  • Have fun! Remember the point of being creative is to enjoy it!

Instructions:

First Motif:

Ch6, slst to 6th ch from hook to form ring. 

Round 1: Ch3 (counts as dc), 15dc in ring, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. — 16 dcs

Round 2: Ch4 (counts as dc, ch1), dc in next dc, *(ch1, dc)x4 in next dc, (ch1, dc in next dc)x3. Rep from * around, (ch1, dc)x4 in next dc, ch1, dc in next dc, ch1, slst to 3rd ch of beg ch4. — 28 ch1 sps

Round 3: Ch5 (counts as dc, ch2), dc in same st, ch2, skip 1 ch1 sp, sc in next ch1 sp, ch2, skip 1 ch1 sp, (dc, ch2, dc) in next ch1 sp (V-st). Rep from * around, except on last repeat omit last V-st, slst to 3rd ch of beg ch5 to join. — 8 V-sts

Round 4: Ch1, sc in first ch2 sp, *ch2, tr in next sc, skip next ch2 sp, (ch2, 2dc-cl)x3 in next ch2 sp, ch2, tr in next sc, ch2, skip next ch2 sp, sc in next ch2 sp. Rep from * around, except on last repeat omit last sc and slst to top of first sc at beg of round to join.

Round 5: Ch3 (counts as dc), *2dc in next ch2 sp, 1dc in next tr, 2dc in next ch2 sp, 1dc in next cl st, 2dc in next ch2 sp, 1dc in next cl st, (2dc, ch3, 2dc) in next cl st, 2dc in next ch2 sp, 1dc in next cl st, 2dc in next ch2 sp, 1dc in next tr, 2dc in next ch2 sp, 1dc in next sc. Rep from * around, except on last repeat omit last dc and slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. — 4 ch3 sps, 84 dcs

Fasten off.

Second – Ninth Motifs:

Rep rounds 1 – 5 on ea motif.

Note: Sew the 9 motifs together in a 3×3 square fabric, as shown on the chart, or on round 5, join 1 side of motif to previous motif by replacing ch3 corners with ch3 joining corners and working a slst to adjacent dc after each dc on the side of the working motif being joined to the previous motif.

Rectangles (make 2):

First Rectangle:

Set Up Row: Join yarn with a slst in any corner of the joined motif fabric, ch3 (counts as dc), working along 3 consecutive motifs, evenly place 81 dcs along edge, turn.

Row 1: Ch3 (counts as dc), sc in next dc, *ch2, skip 2 dcs, (dc, ch2, dc) in next dc. Rep from * across, dc in last dc, turn.

Row 2: Ch4 (counts as tr), tr in first sc, (2dc-cl, ch2, 2dc-cl, ch2, 2dc-cl) in next ch2 sp, *ch1. (2dc-cl, ch2, 2dc-cl, ch2, 2dc-cl) in next ch2 sp. Rep from * across, tr in last sc, tr in last dc, turn.

Row 3: Ch3 (counts as dc), dc in next tr, *ch1, dc in next ch2 sp, ch1, dc in next ch2 sp, ch1, dc in next ch1 sp. Rep from * across, (ch1, dc in next ch2 sp)x2, ch1, 1dc in ea of last 2 tr, turn.

Row 4: Ch3 (counts as dc), dc in next dc, *dc in next ch1 sp, dc in next dc. Rep from * across, dc in last dc, turn.

Rows 5 – 24: Rep rows 1 – 4 seven more time. 

Fasten off.

Second Rectangle:

Row 1: Join yarn with slst to next corner clockwise from the corner joined in first rectangle side, ch3 (counts as dc), working along 3 consecutive motifs, evenly place 81 dcs along edge, turn.

Rows 2 – 24: Rep rows 1 – 24 of first rectangle.

Do not fasten off.

Edging:

Round 1: Working around entire perimeter of fabric, work 1dc in ea st and ch, 2dc in ea row-end dc, and (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in ea corner around, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join.

Round 2: Ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in ea dc around, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in ea corner ch2 sp around, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join.

Round 3: Ch1, sc in first st, *ch3, 2dc-cl in 3rd ch from hook, skip 2 sts, sc in next st. Rep from * around. 

Fasten off.

Finishing:

Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
