Echo Crochet on Fabric Cocoon Shrug Crochet Pattern

12dc / 8 rows = 4 in (10cm) in double crochet

Finished Size:

57 in ( 144.8 cm) width arm edge to arm edge by 57 in (144.8 cm) length top neck edge to bottom edge.

Instructions:

Note: The density of this particular fabric and the small size of the hook make it easy to crochet directly into the fabric.

Round 1: In any corner of the fabric, slst to join, ch3 (counts as dc), *ch2, dc in fabric approximately 1/2 in (1.2 cm) from last st. Rep from across to next corner, ch3, dc in same sp as last st worked**. Rep from * to ** around, omit last dc, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join.

Row 2: Fold project in half. Working across edge A join each side of edge A together as you go, ch1, slst into ch2 sp in one corner of edge A, ch2, slst into ch2 sp on opposite corner of edge A. Rep across until 8 in (20 cm) remains unjoined on edge A (giving you a circumference armhole of 16 in (40cm). Fasten off. Rep for edge C.

Round 3: You should have the cocoon shape now (see schematic). The remainder of the rounds create the collar, worked around edges B and D. Join with slst in corner join of edge A, B and D. Ch3 (counts as dc), *2dc in next ch2 sp, 1dc in next dc. Rep from * around, working along all of edge B and all of edge D, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join.

Round 4: Ch5 (counts as dc, ch2), *skip 2 dcs, dc in next st, ch2. Rep from * around, slst to top of 3rd ch at beg of round to join.

Round 5: Ch3 (counts as dc), *2dc in next ch2 sp, 1dc in next dc. Rep from * around, replace last dc with slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. Fasten off.

Finishing:

Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
