Instructions:
Note: Flower strip is worked flat in three rows, then spiraled and secured into a rose shape.
Row 1: With color A, *ch3, dc in 3rd ch from hook. Rep from * 17 more times, turn. – 18 foundation ovals
Row 2: Slst into first fo, ch6 (counts as dc, ch3), dc in same sp, *(dc, ch3, dc) in next fo. Rep from * across, turn.
Row 3: Ch1, (sc, 7dc, sc) in ea of next 13 ch3 sps, change to color B, *sc in next ch3 sp, (sc, 4dc, ch3 picot, 4dc, sc) in next ch3 sp. Rep from * to end of row. Fasten off.
Assembly:
With right side facing, begin rolling the strip tightly from one short end, forming the inner bud.
As you continue rolling, let the outer edges flare naturally to create petals.
Thread the starting yarn tail onto a needle and secure the layers together through the base with several stitches.
Use the ending tail (Color B) to add a few extra stitches through the back petals if desired, shaping the bloom.
(Optional) For attaching to a project, leave a long tail or hot glue the finished rose to your desired surface (jar lid, hair clip, wreath, etc).
Finishing:
Weave in remaining ends. Lightly steam-shape the petals to open them and let them cool and dry completely.
