What 1000 Patterns & Beyond Is All About

This series is part documentary, part designer diary, part technique deep-dive, and part rediscovery of my creative archive.

Each episode will explore:

• One pattern chosen at random from my master list of 1,000+ designs

• The story behind the design — where I was, why I made it, what inspired it

• Construction details — stitch patterns, shaping, yarn choices, diagrams

• My honest reflections — what holds up, what I’d change, what I learned

• A modern swatch or mini demonstration

• Whether I would remake or redesign the pattern today

It’s a blend of storytelling and education — a way to honor the past while embracing where my creativity is heading next.

How I’m Choosing the Order of the Patterns

Every episode begins with a simple but exciting ritual:

I draw a random number between 1 and 1000, and that number determines the pattern for that episode.

Some are classics.
Some are forgotten gems.
Some are experiments.
Some… well, some may even be a little embarrassing (in the BEST educational way!).

But that’s the beauty of this project — it’s unpredictable, it’s honest, it’s raw, and it reflects the real evolution of a 20-year design career.

I am currently building the complete, numbered archive of every knit and crochet pattern I’ve ever designed. This will live as a continually updated page on my website, and I’ll link it here once it’s published.

For now, trust the process — the list exists behind the scenes, and each number drawn will help reveal the archive one episode at a time.

This is where YOU come in.

If you have questions about:

• today’s intro episode

Please leave your questions in the YouTube comments.

I’ll choose the first few episodes based on viewer feedback, then will randomly choose patterns thereafter.

I’m keeping a running list, and when the random number generator selects a pattern you’ve asked about, I’ll bring your questions into the episode.

This turns the series into a collaborative, evolving conversation between us.
