What you will need:
- 70 (75, 80, 85, 90, 95) yds or 64 (68.6, 73.1, 77.7, 82.3, 86.3)m #4 worsted weight yarn
or
35 (37.5, 40, 42.5, 45, 47.5) yds or 32 (34.3, 36.6, 38.8, 41.1, 43.4)m #4 worsted weight yarn per color - G/6 (4mm) or H/8 (5mm) crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.

14.5 (16, 18.5, 21, 23.5, 26) in or 36.83 (40.6, 47, 53.3, 60, 66)cm circumference.
6 (7, 8, 8, 9, 10) in or 15.2 (17.8, 20.3, 22.9, 22.9, 25.4)cm tall.
Shown in size 16 in (40.6cm) circumference.
Gauge:
14 sts = 4 in (10cm) in established colorwork double crochet pattern with smaller hook to achieve gauge for sizes 14.5 (18.5, 23.5) in or 36.8 (47, 60)cm circumference hats.
12 sts / rounds = 4 in (10cm) in established colorwork double crochet pattern with larger hook to achieve gauge for sizes 16 (21, 26) in or 40.6 (53.3, 66)cm circumference hats.

Crown:
Note: Use smaller size hook for sizes 14.5 (18.5, 23.5) in or 36.8 (47, 60)cm circumference hats. Use larger size hook for sizes 16 (21, 26) in or 40.6 (53.3, 66)cm circumference hats.
Note: Work the last step of any stitch before a color change in the new color.
Note: End crown on round 3 for sizes 14.5 and 16 in or (36.8, 41)cm circumference hats. End crown on round 4 for sizes 18.5 and 21 in or (47, 53.3)cm circumference hats. End crown on round 5 for sizes 23.5 and 26 in or (60, 66)cm circumference hats.
With color A, ch5, slst to 5th ch from hook to form ring.
Round 1: Ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in color B in ring, (1dc in color A in ring, 1dc in color B in ring)x7, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. — 16 dcs
Round 2: With color A, ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in same st, with color B, 2dc in next st, *with color A, 2dc in next st, with color B, 2dc in next
st. Rep from * around, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. — 32 sts

Walls:
Round 1: With color A, ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in ea of next 2 (3, 4) sts, with color B, 1dc in ea of next 3 (4, 5) sts, *with color A, 1dc in ea of next 3 (4, 5) sts, with color B, 1dc in ea of next 3 (4, 5) sts. Rep from * around, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join.
Rep round 1 until hat is 6 (7, 8, 9, 10) in or 15.2 (17.8, 20.3, 22.9, 25.4)cm tall.
Last round: *With color A, loosely slst in next st, with color B, loosely slst in next st. Rep from * around, fasten off.
Finishing:
Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
