Welcome to Part 2 of the Sea Glass Secrets Mystery Crochet Along (MCAL)! ✨ This mystery crochet along is inspired by my brand new novel, The Sea Glass Journal.
Today we’re making the Dragonfly Square crochet pattern, a beautiful motif inspired by stars in the night sky. This design is the perfect way to kick off our creative journey together — it’s both fun to stitch and full of meaning.
Why the Dragonfly Square?
Dragonflies represent change, resilience, and joy. Including them in the MCAL is a reminder that creativity can transform our lives, just as crochet transforms simple yarn into something beautiful.
And this week’s video tutorial even features a special cameo from Bjorn, my adorable cat who loves to sneak into filming sessions!

Yarn:
I used Lion Brand One Pound Yarn (worsted weight) for this tutorial. You can use any yarn and crochet hook appropriate for that weight yarn.
Note: For a beginning chain, I like to use a larger hook for hte chain, then switch to my regular hook size for the remainder of the project. In this example, I did the beginning chain in K/10.5 (6.5mm) crochet hook and switched to G/6 (4mm) crochet hook for remainder of the square.
