Necklace Cowl Knit I-cord and Picot Flower Cowl FREE Pattern

Necklace Cowl Knit I-cord and Picot Flower Cowl FREE Pattern
by Kristin Omdahl

When you are ready for springtime and flowers but still need to keep warm, this is a great cowl to wear! The layers trap warmth nicely yet it is light and airy. It is a cinch to knit up with icord and pretty little flowers made from a clever combination technique of picots.
Follow along in Kristin’s YouTube video for even more tutorial help.

Materials:
(1) center pull ball of  Be So Bold Yarn; #4 medium, worsted weight; colorway Ava’s Isle
D’Amour
NOTE: Kristin Omdahl Yarns other worsted weight yarns are great yarn substitution suggestions for this project as well: Be So Brave Yarn (100% American Merino wool, worsted weight) and Be So Tender Yarn (100% organic cotton, worsted weight)
US8 (5mm) double pointed needles, a short circular will work as well
Tapestry needle or crochet hook for the band
Finished size: 24” circumference

Instructions:
CO 2 sts
*Row 1: slide sts to opposite side of needle, k2.
Rows 2 – 15: rep row 1
*KCO 3 sts, BO 3 sts. Rep from * 3 times, insert needle into horizontal base of each of the 3 picots (4 loops on needle), pass them over the next st on the LH needle. Rep form * for desired length. Approx 22 – 24” per loop for necklace. I made mine long enough for 13 loops (13×24 = 312in or 26 feet).
Fasten off.
NOTE: Using a hair clip to manage the length of the icord as you work. It will help to keep everything untangled until you can secure it with the band. Drape necklace around yourself or a dress form until it lays the way you want and secure it.

Band:
Wrap the yarn around all loops together tightly, trying to line up the icord to not have flowers in this section. Either use a crochet hook and single crochet 50 times around all the strands, or just use a tapestry needle and wrap and tie 50 times around all the strands. Either way will work.

Hand wash, block to finished measurements and let dry. Weave in loose ends.

Thank you for choosing to knit and crochet Kristin Omdahl patterns!
I know that you have thousands of choices for buying yarn and body care products. I want you to know what makes MY products special, and feel good about shopping the Kristin Omdahl brand.
Kristin Omdahl products have a heart! That’s right, a portion of every sale supports the charity I established: Project Kristin Cares.
I am a survivor of domestic violence, a hugely hidden problem in our society. You, or someone you know, has been affected by it, or is still suffering now. Statistics show that 1 in 3 women, and 1 in 4 men have been victims of domestic violence during their lifetimes.
But because it is so rarely discussed, I always felt like I was alone. One of the worst parts for me was that feeling of loneliness and having a dirty secret that had to be hidden.
Through my charity, Project Kristin Cares, we can make a difference in the lives of people who have been affected by domestic violence. I want to share the message that victims are not at fault, not alone and should not be embarrassed to share their stories.
Kristin Omdahl products are beautiful, thoughtful and valuable. But even more importantly, every time you purchase a product from my company, a portion of the sale supports
Project Kristin Cares. Please help me knock out domestic violence, one sale at a time.

xoxo, Kristin
