The Knit Show featuring Kristin Omdahl Yarns

Over the summer, we all saw the exciting announcement that Vickie Howell started a Kickstarter campaign to have the very first studio quality, community-funded and internationally accessible, episodic how-to knitting & crochet series: “The Knit Show with Vickie Howell”.

This web-based series combines foolproof aspects from the former TV shows that YOU loved with elements that speak to today’s mindful and media savvy viewer, including:

Industry experts and superstar guests;

Knitting & crochet tips and techniques;

Modern, totally make-able, high quality projects in a range of levels for your downloading pleasure.

Along with a heaping dose of how-to content, each 30(ish) minute episode will also include: a segment focused on mental & physical health as pertains to knitting & crochet, or a fun glimpse into the shops, groups and lifestyles of our global craft community. We’ll also make it easy for you to be a part of that community through open communication via social media (follow us on Facebook & Instagram!) PLUS, you won’t have to worry about the financial burden of having cable, or the hassle of figuring out when your public television station is airing what you want to watch. This is an egalitarian, inclusive-to-all, knitting playground made for and with you!

The entire first season of The Knit Show with Vickie Howell will be available on The Knit Show website AND be distributed on YouTube  at one time — on October 5, 2017. This means whether you’re in Austin Texas, or Melbourne, Australia you can binge watch the season whenever (and as often) as is convenient to you. Oh, and project info and patterns for each episode will be available on this site. Stay tuned!

First I was a backer for the kickstarter campaign. Then I donated lots of yarn for a special level of backer ‘prize package’ to help entice others to back the campaign. Then, Vickie invited me to come to Austin to be a guest on the show! I designed a gorgeous crochet lace vest called FAN-tastical Crochet Vest in Be So Fine Yarn and demonstrated how to make it on the show. You can see my segment on episode 6 and you can download the free pattern HERE.

Watch the full episodes on The Knit Show’s website HERE. Subscribe to The Knit Show’s YouTube Channel HERE. I will share links to the pattern and videos as soon as the show airs on October 5, 2017. In the meantime, here is a slideshow I put together of my whirlwind trip to Austin to be on The Knit Show!

This gorgeous and deceptively simple project features two ball of Be So Fine Yarn in color way Spun Gold. You will also need an E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook.

AND, Drew Emborsky was also a guest on the show. He used Be So Tender Yarn color way Sky in his beautiful Boho Bag project! You will need one ball of Be So Tender Yarn for this project. He also made a tutorial blog with easy to follow instructions for lining the bag HERE. This was on episode ___ of The Knit Show. Watch it HERE. Download the free pattern HERE.

The free pattern includes charts and line by line instructions. Watch Drew explain it all on his segment with Vickie!

Don’t you just LOVE the beaded fringe?

I would love to see your creations. Just as much fun as making these myself is the satisfaction I get from seeing my designs come to life and other crochet fans wearing them too. There are now 2 ways you can share what you have done!

  • Share yours by joining  Create. Share. Inspire on Facebook where you can interact with me as well as many other members who have a love of knitting and crochet just like you! It is a wonderful and safe place to share your photos of finished projects in my knitting or crochet patterns or yarns, and to see what others are making, too.
  • I have recently added a wonderful new interactive section to the website which I invite you to take part in, it has been a smashing success and such fun so far. It is the new “Share Your Project” section. You, my creators, can upload images and descriptions of your creations to share with the ever growing community! To upload simply click here.

Additionally, I host a livestreaming podcast weekday on my YouTube Channel called Create Share Inspire Podcast. You can join the audience and even ask me questions LIVE! I often do a show and tell, or quick demo and I always interact with the live audience. It is a lot of fun!

    Dear Kristin,
    I really enjoyed watching the videos you shared above. I even made a shawl using the pattern from the FAN-tastical vest. Lovely. Thank you for sharing those videos.
