How to Crochet Delta Flower Stitch Hat Free Pattern

This is one of my all-time favorite stitch patterns. It has a bit of a learning curve, but if you can make cluster stitches, you can make these. Please follow the step by step instructions, read the chart, or follow along with me in the video tutorial below.

What you will need:

  • 200 yds #4 medium, worsted weight yarn
  • H/8 (5mm) crochet hook
  • yarn needle
  • scissors

Gauge: each 6-petal flower is 2″ in diameter

Finished size: 20″ circumference x 10″ tall

Special Stitch Instructions:
Beg 3dtr-cluster: Ch5, *yox3, insert hook in specified st, yo, pull up a loop, (yo, pull through 2 loops on hook)x3. Rep from * once more. Pull through all 3 loops on hook.

Beg double 3-dtr cluster (beg 2 petals): ch5, *yox3, insert hook in 5th ch from hook, yo, pull up a loop, (yo, pull through 2 loops on hook)x3*. Rep from * to * once more in same st, rep from * to * 3 more times in next st. Yo, pull through all 6 loops on hook.

Beg triple 3-dtr cluster (3 petals): ch5, *yox3, insert hook in 5th ch from hook, yo, pull up a loop, (yo, pull through 2 loops on hook)x3*. Rep from * to * once more in same ch, rep from * to * 3 more times in same st as last worked. Rep from * to * 3 more times in next st. Yo, pull through all 9 loops on hook.

Instructions:
Set up round: *ch5, 2dtr-cluster in 5th ch from hook. Rep from * 15 more times. Slst to first ch at beg of round to join. — 16 petals

Round 1: Beg double 3-dtr cluster (2 petals) in first 2 sts, *Triple 3-dtr cluster (3 petals) in last st worked and next 2 sts. Rep from * around, 3-dtr cluster, slst to top of first st at beg of round to join.

Rounds 3 – 8: rep round 1

Crown:
Round 9: Beg double 3-dtr cluster (beg 2 petals) over first 2 sts, *double 3-dtr cluster (2 petals) over next 2 sts. Rep from * around. — 8 sts

Assembly:
Fasten off, leaving 8″ tail. Thread yarn onto tapestry needle and weave through all 8 sts from last round. Cinch together and secure. Weave in loose ends.

Hand wash, block to finished measurements and let dry.

    Hello, Thank you so much…this hat is so cute. I am on row 9 and how the video does it is not what the pattern says you say in the pattern that you will have 8 stitches, but is is not working out to be 8……??????
