Free Pattern: How to Crochet a Heart-Shaped Motif

Who doesn’t love a handmade heart? Add to to a birthday card, decorate a wrapped gift with it, anonymously gift it to a stranger, add it to garland, or sprinkle them everywhere you go. Crochet hearts are whimsical and joyful. You can fill each stitch with loving intention and make them powerful gifts of love.
What you will need:
sport weight yarn
(1) ball Be So Serene Yarn: shown in color centered
H/8 (5mm) crochet hook
scissors
Gauge: not critical for this project
Finished size: 3″ square
Instructions:
Round 1: ch6, slst to 6th ch from hook to form ring. Ch3 (counts as dc), (4dc, 1sc, 8dc, tr, dtr, tr, 4dc) in ring. Slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join.
Row 2: ch1, sc in same st, skip 1dc, 9dc in next st, skip 2 dcs, sc in next dc, skip 2 dos, 9dc in next st. Do not turn. Do not complete round.
Round 3: skip next dc, *ch1, slst in next st. Rep from * around. NOTE: the third round begins at the opposite side of the heart as the end of round 1 because row 2 is only worked around half of round 1.
Fasten off. Share with the world!
