Summer Love Crochet Lace Vest FREE Pattern

Introducing the Summer Love Crochet Vest FREE Pattern By Kristin Omdahl

The Summer Love Crochet Vest Pattern is a top down crochet lace vest that combines several easy, beginner stitches to create a casual vest that you can wear with anything. It has a bohemian flair but is super functional and therefore can be accessorized with many styles. The construction style of the yoke is raglan shaping, and the entire vest is worked in one piece! Edging is added at the end, using spaces made by stitches at row-ends.

I named this pattern the Summer Love because the miniature pineapple lace stitch pattern reminds me of strawberries. And nothing reminds me of summer more than fresh and fragrant strawberries!

I love the tasseled ties. You can simply close the vest together with a simple loose bow, or leave them to dangle. The fringe of the tassels flows so beautifully. And this yarn makes such a gorgeous, blunt cut fringe.

You could also corset tie this crochet vest with the tassels but weaving them in and out opposite sides (like you were lacing your sneakers).

Or, you could add buttons. Or you could simply leave it open. You can’t go wrong with a layering piece like the Summer Love Crochet Vest Free Pattern.

What you will need:

  • 1150 (1300, 1600, 1900) yds (1051, 1188, 1463m 1737m) #1 fingering weight yarn
  • G/6 (4mm) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Gauge:

4 shells and 8 rows = 4 in (10 cm) after blocking

Note: Blocking your gauge swatch before measuring is the best way to ensure proper sizing, true to pattern.

Finished Sizes:

  • 36 (40, 44, 48, 52) in or 91.4 (101.6, 111.8, 121.9, 132.1) cm bust circumference
  • 22.5 (23, 23.5, 24, 24.5) in  or 57.2 (58.4, 59.7, 61, 62.2) cm length
  • Shown in size 36 in (91.4 cm) bust circumference

The Summer Love Crochet Vest Pattern is generously sized ranging form 36” to 52” bust measurements, which makes it great for gift giving. And the pattern includes charts, which helps make the process of crocheting a pattern flow so much easier if you can read crochet charts. If you don’t already know how to read charts, I suggest you check out my How to Read Crochet Charts video series. You can find more information about it on this page on my website HERE I have tutorial videos coming soon for this pattern. And in that video series, I will also show you how to easily add sleeves to this project. If you want to get started without me, simply pick up where you left off in the established pattern during the yoke, and work the sleeves in the round, beginning at the foundation ovals at the underarm. If you don’t add shaping, a 3/4 sleeve would be pretty. And for simple shaping ( not shaping within the stitch pattern) you could adjust your gauge by slowly increasing or decreasing your hook size to create tapered or belled sleeves.

I love styling vests so much because they are so versatile. Here is a video where I show multiple ways to style crochet vests:
