Medallion Crochet Wire Earrings FREE Pattern

If you can crochet basic stitches like slip stitch, chain and double crochet, you can make these dramatic and sophisticated earrings, in only a couple of hours! The trick is learning how to crochet with wire. Please watch my YouTube tutorial for more support!

Materials:
one spool of 32 gauge (for small) or 28 gauge (for large) non-tarnish silver or gold wire; or copper filled
jewelry craft wire which comes in an assortment of colors
Wire available at Lacis.com
B/1 (2.25mm) crochet hook for crocheting with wire
(2) french hook earring findings, silver or gold depending on which wire you use
(2) small jump rings (optional) depending on how you want your earrings facing, in the matching color of your
french hook earring findings.

scissors
hammer

Gauge: 6 sts, 2 rows = 1” in double crochet
Finished size:
earrings measure 3” in diameter

Instructions:
Round 1: ch4, dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped 3 chs count as first dc), work 14 more dc in same ch. Slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. — 16 dcs

Round 2: ch3 (counts as dc), work 1dc in same st. Work 2dc in ea st around, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. — 32 dcs.

Round 3: ch3 (counts as dc), work 1dc in same st, work 1dc in next st. *Work 2dc in next st, 1dc in next st. Rep from * around. — 48 sts

Round 4: slst in ea st around, ch1, skip st, hdc in next st (counts as ch3 sp). Cut wire, leaving long tail for weaving around the loop just made.

Join french hook to loop at top of earring. Pinch tightly with pliers. Working on a flat, hard surface, work harden your medallions with a hammer or anvil. You can bang, tap or grind over the surface until the wire flattens out into a wafer thin medallion. See YouTube video

Finishing:
Weave in loose ends with tapestry needle and cut extra with scissors. Join French
Loop earring finding with pliers to top center of earring. If you want the earring facing
forward, join directly to finding. If you want earring facing sideways, join jump ring to top
center of earring first, then join earring finding to jump ring.
