How to Wind a Hank of Yarn with No Tools!

How to Wind a Hank of Yarn with No Tools!

Some people have tools like an umbrella swift and a ball winder at home – and some people do not! Regardless of whether you use tools or not, it is always a good idea to have a back up plan. In these videos I demonstrate how to take a hank of yarn and turn it into a center pull ball BY HAND without tools. And I share some great tips and tricks along the way.

I think it is easy to forget the scope of how much string we are working with. If you consider the fact that a 100 yard ball of yarn is the length of a football field it is a miracle that you can ever keep the whole thing organized from beginning to end of project! And the larger the ball, the more football field lengths! Recognizing and understanding the various stages a ball of yarn goes through while you are working from it can really help you to avoid the pitfalls of tangles and knots along the way. Learning how to untangle knots effectively is also important. Join me for Yarn On The Beach for more tutorials. And if you have any suggestions, please feel welcome to share them with me.
