The Inspiration for The Rainbow Connection Layette Set Crochet Patterns
The Rainbow Connection Layette Set Crochet Patterns are inspired by the Kermit the Frog song from my youth. The song speaks of bringing people together and what better way to bring people together than with handmade gifts? I chose a rainbow inspired color palette with rich, saturated candy colors, featuring Be So Baby Yarn in colors orchid, peach, buttercup, turquoise, splash and violet.
What You’ll Receive with the Rainbow Connection Layette Set Crochet Patterns
A twist on the classic granny style stitch, alternating increases and decreases in pattern give this afghan its chevron wave. The staggered color transition between stripes is both soothing and mesmerizing. If you choose to make your blanket the same size as in this pattern, you’ll have enough yarn left over to make matching hats and booties too!
The blanket is an easy to memorize chevron stitch pattern that is based on the classic granny stitch. Not only is it an easy crochet stitch pattern to make, but if you are taking it to a social setting – crochet club, sporting event, or watching an exciting movie, all of the stitches are worked into holes instead of other stitches. This takes far less focus and concentration than a pattern that requires you stitch into specific stitches.
All of the patterns (hat, booties and blanket) are written to be worked in either all 6 colors of yarn, or can be made in one solid color. The reason I made extra samples in multi-color and solid colors is that I thought it would be an extra special baby shower gift if you make several hats and booties to coordinate with the blanket so when one set is in the wash, one set is in the laundry basket to be washed, the new mommy would still have coordinating sets of booties and hats to match with the blanket. Plus they are just adorable as a coordinating set. Wouldn’t this make the most fabulous baby shower gift?
