Hat Walls:

Note: This hat is worked from the bottom up in the round.

Round 1: *With color B, ch4, dc in 4th ch from hook. Rep from * 17 (20, 23, 26, 29) times, slst to first ch at beg of round to join. — 18 (21, 24, 27, 30) foundation ovals

Round 2: Slst into first foundation oval, ch5 (counts as dc, ch2), dc in same sp, ch3, sc2tog over next 2 ch3 sps, ch3, *(dc, ch2, dc) in next ch3 sp, ch3, sc2tog over next 2 ch3 sps, ch3. Rep from * around, slst to 3rd ch of beg ch5 to join. Fasten off. — 6 (7, 8, 9, 10) ch2 sps

Round 3:  With color C, join yarn with slst in any ch2 sp, ch3 (counts as dc), 4dc in same sp, 3dc in ea of next 2 ch3 sps, *5dc in next ch2 sp, 3dc in ea of next 2 ch3 sps. Rep from * around, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 66 (77, 88, 99, 110) dcs

Round 4: With color A, join yarn with slst to first dc in any 5dc section, ch3, 2dc-cl in same st, (ch1, 3dc-cl in next st)x4, skip next 6 dcs, *(ch1, 3dc-cl in next st)x5, ch1, skip next 6 dcs. Rep from * around, slst to top of first cl st at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 30 (35, 40, 45, 50) cl sts

Round 5: With color B, join yarn with slst in second to last ch1 sp on round 4, ch1 sc in same st. Dc around next ch1 sp and between the two 3dc sections 2 rounds below, *sc in next ch1 sp, (ch3, sc in next ch1 sp)x3, dc around next ch 1sp and between the two 3dc sections two rounds below. Round 6: Ch1, sc2tog over last ch3 sp and first ch3 sp on prev round, ch3, (dc, ch2, dc) in next ch3 sp, ch3, *sc2tog over next 2 ch3 sps, ch3, (dc, ch2, dc) in next ch3 sp, ch3. Rep from * around, slst to top of first st at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 6 (7, 8, 9, 10) ch2 sps

Rep rounds 3 – 6 until hat is almost 6 (7, 9, 10, 11) in tall, ending on a round 5 with color B.

Crown:

Next round: Slst into next ch3 sp, *sc2tog around next 2 ch3 sps, ch3, sc in next ch3 sp, ch3. Rep from * around, slst to first st at beg of round to join. — 12 (14, 16, 18, 20) ch3 sps

Next round: Slst into next ch3 sp, *sc2tog around next 2 ch3 sps, ch3. Rep from * around, slst to first st at beg of round to join. Fasten off, leaving long tail for cinching crown closed. — 6 (7, 8, 9, 10) ch3 sps

Finishing:

Weave last tail through remaining ch3 sps on last round and cinch closed. Secure on the inside of the hat. Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
