MATERIALS:

• 30 yards of #1 superfine, fingering weight bamboo yarn; 650 yds per 4oz; shown in color Blue Danube
• (1) 1.25mm crochet hook
• (2) 5mm split ring jump rings
• (2) french hook earring findings
• yarn needle
• scissors
• Spray Starch (for stiffener)
• 2 pair of pliers
• 12 4mm beads (optional)
• beading needle (optional)

GAUGE:

Gauge is not critical for this project, but 12 st / 3 rows = 1″ in double crochet.

FINISHED SIZE:

Each motif is 2″ wide x 2″ long; with the findings, the earring is 3″ long.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Ch5, slst to 5th ch from hook to join ring.

Row 1: ch3 (counts as dc), 8dc in ch5 ring, turn. — 9 dcs

Row 2: ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in ea of next 2 sts, ch8, slst in 5th ch from hook, ch3, skip 3 dcs, 1dc in ea of next 3 sts, turn. — 6 dcs, 2 ch3 sps, 1 ch5 ring

Row 3: ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in ea of next 2 sts, ch3, 9dc in next ch5 ring, ch3, 1dc in ea of next 3 dcs, turn. — 15 dcs, 2 ch3 sps

Row 4: ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in ea of next 2 sts, ch3, 1dc in ea of next 3 sts, ch8, slst in 5th ch from hook, ch3, skip 3 dcs, 1dc in ea of next 3 sts, ch3, 1dc in ea of next 3 sts, turn. — 12 dcs, 4 ch3 sis, 1 ch5 ring

Row 5: ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in ea of next 2 sts, ch3, 1dc in ea of next 3 sts, ch3, 9dc in next ch5 ring, (ch3, 1dc in ea of next 3 sts)x2, turn. — 21 dcs, 4 ch3 sps

FINISHING:

Fasten off. Weave in loose ends. Open the stitch marker and insert the top of the earring and the french hook into the ring before closing. Repeat for second earring. Spray the starch onto both sides of earring and let dry. Repeat once more.
