Honey Rose Textured Crochet Hat Pattern

This textured crochet hat pattern includes instructions for both #4 worsted weight yarn and #6 super bulky weight yarn. The stitch pattern has a multiple of 10 sts per repeat. Depending on the gauge measurement you achieve with any yarn weight and appropriate hook, you could make this crochet hat in any yarn.

Worsted weight yarn hat & cowl:

  • 320 yds #4 worsted weight yarn
  • H/8 (5mm) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

#6 Super bulky weight yarn hat & cowl:

  • 220 yds #6 super bulky weight yarn
  • 9mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Gauge:

Worsted weight yarn in pattern 16 sts / rounds = 4 in (10cm) after blocking

Super bulky weight yarn in pattern 10 sts / rounds = 4 in (10cm) after blocking

Note: Instructions for #6 bulky weight yarn are shown first, and instructions for #4 worsted weight yarn are shown following in parenthesis.

Crochet Hat Pattern:

Ch5, slst to 5th ch from hook to form ring.

Round 1: Ch3 (counts as dc), 9 (15) dc in ring, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. – 10 (16) dcs

Round 2: Ch2 (does not count as a st), fpdc around ch3, ch1, fpdc around post of next dc, *ch1, fpdc around post of next dc, ch1, fpdc around post of next dc. Rep from * around, slst to top of first st at beg of round to join.

Round 3: Ch2 (does not count as a st), fpdc around first fpdc, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in next ch1 sp, fpdc around next fpdc, *ch1, fpdc around post of next fpdc, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in next ch1 sp, fpdc around next fpdc. Rep from * around, slst to top of first st at beg of round to join.

Round 4: Ch2 (does not count as a st), fpdc around first fpdc, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next ch1 sp, fpdc around next fpdc, *ch1, fpdc around next fpdc, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next ch1 sp, fpdc around next fpdc. Rep from * around, slst to top of first st at beg of round to join.

      The pattern says the first number is for #6 super bulky yarn and the second number (in parenthesis) is for #4 worsted weight yarn. Both are based on gauge – which is shared before the pattern begins.
