This is a textured scarf with a simple chevron stitch pattern. The strategically placed post stitches take the texture to a whole new level. While the fabric is not identical on both sides, it is difficult to choose which side is more beautiful.

What you will need:

  • 612 yds (560m) #4 worsted weight yarn
  • J/10 (6mm) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Finished Size:

10 in (25.4cm) wide x 66 in (167.6cm) long.

Gauge:

16 sts / rows = 4 in (10cm) in pattern.

Stitch Guide:

Chain (ch), single crochet (sc), foundation single crochet (fsc), double crochet (dc), front post double crochet (fpdc), back post double crochet (bpdc), front post double crochet 2 together (fpdc2tog), and back post double crochet 2 together (bpdc2tog).

Instructions:

Row 1: Fsc 42 sts.

Row 2: Ch3 (counts as dc), *2dc in ea of next 2 sts, (ch1, skip 1 sc, dc in next sc)x3, skip next sc, 1dc in ea of next 2 scs, skip next sc, (dc in next sc, ch1, skip next sc)x3, 2dc in ea of next 2 scs. Rep from * once more, dc in last sc. — 34 dcs and 12 ch1 sps

Row 3: Ch3 (counts as dc), *2dc in ea of next 2 dcs, skip next dc, (ch1, bpdc in next dc)x3, (bpdc2tog over next 2 dcs)x2, (bpdc in next dc, ch1)x3, skip next dc, 2dc in ea of next 2 dcs. Rep from * once more, dc in top of beg ch3. — 18 dcs, 12 bpdc, 4 bpdc2tog, 12 ch1 sps

Row 4: Ch3 (counts as dc), *2dc in ea of next 2 dcs, skip next dc, (ch1, fpdc in next dc)x3, (fpdc2tog over next 2 dcs)x2, (fpdc in next dc, ch1)x3, skip next dc, 2dc in ea of next 2 dcs. Rep from * once more, 1dc in top of beg ch3. — 18 dcs, 12 fpdc, 4 fpdc2tog, 12 ch1 sps

Rep rows 3 – 4 until scarf is 66 in (167.6cm) long.

Last row: Ch1, sc in ea st and ch sp across. — 42 scs

Fasten off.

Finishing:

Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
