Lucy crochet sweater pattern

This sized sweater features a teardrop shaped crochet stitch that has an organic, natural aesthetic. It has a beautiful texture for an openwork lace, as shown in the yoke of this pretty sweater.

What you will need to make the Lucy crochet pullover sweater free pattern:

  • 918 yds (1010, 1110, 1221, 1344) yds or  839.4 (923.5, 1015, 1116.5, 1229)m #4 worsted weight yarn
  • G/6 (4mm) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Gauge:

18 sts / 2 rounds = 4 in (10cm) in alternating rounds of dtr and sc.

Finished Size:

32 (36, 40, 44, 48) in or (81.3, 91.4, 102, 112, 122)cm bust measurement.

Stitch Guide:

Chain (ch), slip stitch (slst), double crochet (dc), double treble crochet (dtr), single crochet (sc) treble crochet (tr), 4 treble crochet cluster (4tr-cl), and foundation single crochet (fsc).

Beginning Teardrop Stitch (beg teardrop): Ch4, 3-tr cluster in same sp, ch3.

Teardrop Stitch (teardrop):

Yox5, insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook)x2, *yox2, insert hook in same st, pull up a loop, (yo, pull through 2 loops on hook)x2; rep from * 2 times in same st, yo, pull through 5 loops on hook, (yo, pull through 2 loops on hook)x3.

Instructions:

Yoke: 

Note: Sweater is worked in the round from the top down.

Round 1: Fsc 60 (64, 72, 80, 84), without twisting foundation, slst in first st to join into a ring. — 60 (64, 72, 80, 84) fsc

Round 2: Working on ch side of foundation, beg teardrop in first st, ch3, skip next st, *teardrop in next st, ch3, skip next st. Rep from * around, slst to top of beg ch to join. — 30 (32, 36, 40, 42) teardrop sts

Round 3: Ch1, *sc in top of teardrop, 3sc in next ch3 sp. Rep from * around, slst to top of first sc at beg of round to join. — 120 (128 144, 160, 168) scs

Round 4: Beg teardrop in first st, ch3, skip 3 scs, *teardrop in next sc, ch3, skip 3 scs. Rep from * around, ch3, slst to top of beg ch3 to join.  –30 (32, 36, 40, 42) teardrops

Round 5: Ch1, *sc in top of teardrop, 4sc in next ch3 sp. Rep from * around, slst to top of first sc at beg of round to join. — 150 (160, 180, 200, 210)scs

Round 6: Beg teardrop in first st, ch4, skip 4 scs, *teardrop in next sc, ch4, skip 4 scs. Rep from * around, slst to top of beg ch3 to join.

Round 7: Ch1, *sc in top of teardrop, 4sc in next ch4 sp. Rep from * around, slst to top of first sct at beg of round to join. — 150 (160, 180, 200, 210)scs

Separate for Body and Sleeves:

Round 1: Ch4 (does not counts as first dtr), *1dtr in ea of next 45 (48, 54, 60, 63) sts, fsc 15 (16, 18, 20, 21), skip next 30 (32, 36, 40, 42) sts; rep from * once more. Slst to top of first dtr at beg of round to join. — 120 (128, 144, 160, 158) sts

Round 2: Ch1, sc in ea st around, slst to top of first sc at beg of round to join.

Round 3: Ch4 (does not counts as first dtr), 1dtr in ea st around, slst to top of first dtr at beg of round to join. 

Rounds 4 – 19: Rep rounds 2 – 3 eight more times.

Round 20: rep round 2. Fasten off.

Sleeves (Optional):

Round 1: Join with slst in center of underarm fsc of either armhole opening. Ch1, sc in ea st around, slst to first sc at beg of round to join.

Round 2: Ch4 (does not counts as first dtr), 1dtr in ea st around, slst to top of first dtr at beg of round to join. 

Round 3: Ch1, sc in ea st around, slst to top of first sc at beg of round to join.

Rep rounds 2 – 3 for desired sleeve length. Fasten off.

Note: After first round, decrease on ea side of round for -2 sts per round. Repeat until 26 sts left. Then 6 rounds worked even in pattern for desired sleeve length.

Finishing:

Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
