Knit from the bottom up, the first rows are daunting but with the decrease rows they just get faster and faster! The garter stitch ruffle has a beautiful flounce to it, and the vertical lines of the lace pattern burst into a fan with the cleverly placed decreases in pattern. The bamboo shines like silk and drapes so beautifully. Wear it to your fanciest of holiday parties!

For some reason, this shawl has always appealed to me. I’ve made it at least three or four times. I think it’s because instead of starting with 6 or 8 stitches and ending up with hundreds of stitches at the end, she starts the pattern at the large end, so each row has fewer stitches than the row below. That’s perfect for those of us who get tired of working a pattern with hundreds of stitched when you’re nearly done and just want to finish it, block it and wear it.
