This is a beautiful knit lace shawl with an interesting chevron lace pattern. The shawl is knit lengthwise with a stretchy cast on and bind off for symmetrical edges. It is a remarkably quick project with bulky weight yarn.

What you will need:

• 580 yds (530)m  #5 bulky weight yarn
• US13 (9mm) knitting needles
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Shown in:  

Be So Easy Yarn; 145 yds (132m) per 3.5oz (100gm); 100% milk cotton, #5 bulky weight yarn; color  Black, 4 balls.

Finished Size:

25 in (63.5cm) wide x 58 in (147.3cm) long

Gauge: 

8 sts / 13 rows = 4 in (10cm) in blocked lace pattern.

Stitch Guide: 

Knit (k), purl (p), yarn over (yo), knit cast on (kco), slip slip knit (ssk), knit 2 sts together (k2tog), slip 2 k1 psso (s2kp) and bind off (bo).

Instructions:

KCO 117 sts 

Note: The stitch pattern is a multiple of 10 + 1, and there are 3 selvedge sts at each end of row.

Set up rows 1 – 2: Knit across.

Note: Set up rows are not on the chart.

Row 1 (WS) and all odd rows unless otherwise stated: K3, purl across to last 3 sts: k3. — 117 sts

Row 2: K3, *k5, yo, ssk, k3. Rep from *, end k4.

Row 4: K3, *k3, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k2; rep from *, end k4

Row 6: K3, *k2, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k1; rep from *, end k4.

Row 8: K3, *k1, k2tog, yo, k5, yo, ssk; rep from *, end k4.

Row 10: K3, k2tog, yo, k7, *yo, s2kp, yo, k7; rep from *, end yo, ssk, k3.

Rows 11 – 80: Rep rows 1 – 10 seven more times.

Rows 81 – 82: Knit across.

Bind off loosely as follows: K1, *yo, k1. Pass yo and first st up and over second st and off needles. Rep from * across, fasten off last st.

Finishing:

Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
