This is one of my favorite projects from Crochet So Lovely! It started as a tunisian crochet color work motif project that went awry. After several failed attempts at making the project work, I had to pitch the secondary color and come up with a quick project (deadline looming) with half the original yardage. I knew hairpin lace used little yardage comparitively to traditional crochet as well as tunisian crochet. And about that same time, I was admiring someone’s passionfruit flowers in their garden on Facebook. It occurred to me that if I were to turn a hairpin lace strip into a circle, by cinching the loops on one side and stretching the loops on the other side (with increases) it just might work…. Well, it did work. And I think these gorgeous medallions truly look like passionfruit flowers, hence the name!
