Free Crochet Cowl Pattern by Kristin Omdahl

Free Crochet Cowl Pattern in Spiral Rounds Crocheting by Kristin Omdahl

I love the texture of post stitches in a stitch pattern. However, when worked in the round, sometimes post stitches can get lost at the joins of the rounds because ch3 has to count for a dc. One way to eliminate this problem is to work a ch2 at the beg of each round and not count it as the first st. In this video, I show you step by step how to work this beautiful stitch pattern in the round for this free Crochet Cowl Pattern with thicker yarn for a quick and beginner friendly, easy crochet pattern. The results are perfectly textured post stitches in a honeycomb pattern throughout the entire project.

The pattern has a 10 stitch repeat. Using worsted weight yarn and an I/9 (5.5mm) crochet hook, 8 repeats work well for a 20″ circumference cowl. And 3 repeats work well for a wristlet.

For this Free Crochet Cowl Pattern, I used

250 yds #4 worsted weight yarn
I/9 (5.5mm) crochet hook
Yarn needle
Scissors

Gauge: 2.75″ wide per 10 stitch repeat

Finished sizes: 8″ circumference for wristlet, 20″ circumference for cowl

Specialty stitches:
FPDC (Front Post Double Crochet): yo, insert hook from front to back, right to left, around the vertical post of the specified stitch, pull up a loop. You now have 3 loops on your hook. (Yo, pull through 2 loops) twice.
