Bare Sand Dollar Motif Crochet Bag Free Pattern

Bare Sand Dollar Motif Crochet Bag Free Pattern

Joining motifs in a diamond formation adds visual interest and allows you to create shapes and dimensions you wouldn’t have when joining them square. For example, the bottom of this bag is flat because of the placement of one motif in the center. Plus, the 4 motifs along top edge add greater depth and stability to the handles because of their pointed corners facing up.

The construction of this bag is so fun, and can easily be modified to create a wider or taller bag. The diamond construction method for motifs is so interesting to me, and is inspiring me to create garments with it, too!

OK….thinking of trying this one. But quick question. The one-shot photos make it look like the sand dollars are really close to one another, but the finished project doesn’t look the same. So which is it?

    • Kristin Omdahl says:

They are the same motif. Once they are joined together the outer rounds open up more. Maybe that is what is confusing to you? If that doesn’t answer your question, please elaborate. I’m not sure what you are asking. They are the same.
      Warm regards,

      Kristin

    Hi Kristin,
I love your patterns and have made quite a few now.

Can you tell me how many metres of yarn are required for this project please?

It says in the intro that you used 1 ball (130), but that must be an error.

Thanks for sharing with us. x
