I am thrilled to announce the release of my 14th book! Motif Magic: 17 Join As You Go Projects to Knit & Crochet explores the magical world of motifs. Choose from 17 gorgeous shawls, cowls and bags. Creating beautiful things is such an important part of my life. My goal in writing this book is to share my enthusiasm for motifs with you. Whether you like to knit, crochet, or both, making motifs and joining them together into spectacularly patterned fabric is transportable, interesting and engaging.
Motifs are small and quick to make, allowing you to experiment with new stitch patterns and techniques without a major commitment of time and yarn. Best of all, they are incredibly versatile. Create a charming embellishment to a sweater with a single flower motif; seam together an assortment of squares to create an afghan; transform a circular motif into the crown of a hat; trim a shawl with a lacy motif for a striking edging. The possibilities are endless.
Each project in this book explores not only individual motifs but also explains how to put them together using join as you go techniques. I love thinking of new ideas, approaches of construction, and experimenting with textures for yarn. I hope I can encourage you to empower yourself with new skills or new ways of looking at something you already know. It may take a couple of attempts to become comfortable with different techniques and a variety of yarns; just relax, breathe, and most importantly, have fun.
Learning is such a personal experience and each of us learns in a unique way. Please enjoy the line by line instructions, charts and supplemental video tutorials on my website to enhance your experience. This entire book is printed in a larger font to make reading it as simple and easy as possible.
