Vanna White Interview with Kristin Omdahl on Create Share Inspire Podcast Episode 610

It was such an honor to have the opportunity to interview Vanna White for Create Share Inspire Podcast episode 610. I have admired Vanna for decades for her determined focus and career choices; her kindness, optimism and grace under pressure; and her desire to give back. Vanna White is a pop-culture icon who came onto the scene as the game show hostess on Wheel of Fortune 37 years ago. She came from a hard working, humble childhood and dreamed of being a TV star at a very young age. Determined and not afraid of doing whatever it took to always better herself, she eventually made it to Hollywood. Despite overcoming hardships and obstacles along the way, she never gave up on her dreams.

Being in the spotlight for decades, Vanna White had the opportunity or choice to use her celebritydom for anything. And she chose to not only spotlight her love of crocheting, but she also discovered a way to use her platform to generate millions of dollars for St Jude Hospital through her Vanna’s Choice by Lion Brand Yarn collection.

On Sunday, June 14, 2020 on ZOOM, Lion Brand Company will present #StitchAroundTheWorld: Fashion Edition, the stylish second installment of the largest virtual crafting event in history. There previous event attracted nearly 800 participants, gave back to worthy causes, and was covered by Good Morning America (GMA). This second event promises to be bigger and better!

Presented by Lion Brand Yarn Company, and featuring Vanna White and other special guests and surprises, this global ZOOM event will show off the finest creations of knitters and crocheters across the globe, and stream live on Facebook to Lion Brand’s 500K-plus followers. Five lucky winners will walk away with prizes for their designs, while other participants will be encouraged to help donate and raise funds for the Red Cross’s COVID-19 relief efforts.

THE FIRST TRIUMPH

This event comes on the heels of the inaugural #StitchAroundTheWorld, which attracted nearly 800 Zoom participants from all 50 states, and from countries including Australia, Germany, Egypt, England, Israel, and more. Hosted by Lion Brand ambassador Shira Blumenthal (who’ll be hosting again), the event drew attention to Blumenthal’s anti-bullying campaign #HatNotHate, helped to raise funds for the It Gets Better Project, and has garnered 20K views (and counting) on Facebook.
