Althea Easy Lace Shawl Knit Free Pattern Page by Kristin Omdahl

This is an easy to memorize stitch pattern in a top down increasing shawl. You could customize the size by adding additional yardage and continuing in the established pattern for a larger shawl.

What you will need:

  • 290 yds (265)m #5 bulky weight yarn
  • US13 (9mm) circular knitting needles, 24 in or longer to accommodate large stitch count
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Finished Size: 66 in (165.6cm) wide x 26 in (66cm) tall.

Stitch Guide: 

Knit (k), purl (p), yarn over (yo), cast on (co), bind off (bo), slip marker (sm) and place marker (pm).

S2kp: Slip 2 sts knitwise, knit the next stitch, pass 2 slipped stitches up and over last stitch and off needle. This is a double decrease.

Note: When following along on the chart, keep in mind that the chart depicts the lace triangle on each side of the selvage edge and center gusset.

BO loosely in pattern (knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches before passing them up and over the last stitch and off the needles.

Finishing:

Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
