What you will need to make the Hibiscus Baby Layette Blanket, Booties and Hat FREE Crochet Pattern :

Blanket:

  • 860 yds (786m)  #3 dk weight yarn, 1 ball ea of 4 colors and 3 balls of 5th color.

Hat:

  • 115 yds (105m) #3 dk weight yarn, 1 ball each of 4 colors.

Booties:

  • 60 yds (55m) #3 dk weight yarn, 1 ball each of 4 colors.

All projects:

  • E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

Gauge: 

Large motif is 10.5 in (26.7cm) in diameter.

Finished Size:

Blanket: 33 in (83.8cm) square, 2 in (5cm) edging.

Hat: 16 in (40.6cm) circumference x 6 in (15.2cm) tall, size 6 months.

Booties: Sole is 3 in (7.6cm) long x 1 in (2.5cm) wide, size 6 months.

Large Motif (make 9):

With color A, ch6, slst to 1st ch to form ring.

Round 1: Ch1, 16sc in ring. Slst to first st at beg of round to join. Fasten off.  — 16 scs

Round 2: With color B, slst in any st to join, ch4 (counts as dc, ch1), (dc in next st, ch1)x15, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 16 dcs

Round 3: With color C, slst to any dc to join, ch1, sc in same st, (ch3, sc in next dc)x15, ch3, slst to first st at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 16 ch3 sps

Round 4: With color D, slst to any ch3 sp to join, ch1, sc in same sp, *ch9, sc in next ch3 sp. Rep from * around, ch9, slst to first sc at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 16 ch9 sps

Round 5: With color E, slst in any ch9 sp to join, ch3 (counts as dc), 3dc in same sp, *ch1, 4dc in next ch9 sp. Rep from * around, ch1, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 16 ch1 sps

Round 6: With Color A, slst in any ch1 sp, ch1, sc in same sp, ch3, dc4tog over the next 4 dcs, ch3, *sc in next ch1 sp, ch3, dc4tog over the next 4 dcs, ch3. Rep from * around, slst to first st at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 16 dc4togs

Round 7: With color B, slst into any ch3 sp, ch1, sc in same ch3 sp, ch5, *sc, in next ch3 sp, ch5. Rep from * around, slst to first st at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 32 ch5 sps

Round 8: With color C, slst in any ch5 sp, ch1, sc in same sp, 9dc in next ch5 sp, *sc in next ch5 sp, 9dc in next ch5 sp. Rep from * around, slst to first sc at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 16 9dc shells

Round 9: With color D, slst to 3rd of 9 dc on prev round, ch3 (counts as dc), dc in same st, 2dc in next st, ch5, skip 1 st, 2dc in ea of next 2 sts. *Ch1, skip next 5 sts, 2dc in ea of next 2 sts, ch5, skip next st, 2dc in ea of next 2 sts. Note: Follow chart for placement of slip stitch joins on last round when joining to adjacent motifs. Each motif is joined in two shells to adjacent motif for each side joined. When a motif is joined on two sides, notice that you skip 2 shells at the corner between the two sides joined.

Mini Motif (make 4):

With color E, ch6, slst to 6th ch from hook to form ring.

Round 1: Ch3, dc in ring, (ch3, 2dc-cl in ring)x7, ch3, slst to top of first st at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 8 clusters

Round 2: With color C, slst into any ch3 sp, ch3 (counts as dc), dc in same sp, (ch5, 2dc in next ch3 sp)x7, ch5, slst to first st at beg of round to join. Fasten off. — 8 ch5 sps

Fold bootie in half. With right sides facing, sew up seam of the sole.

Cuff:

Round 1: Join with slst in any st or ch around top opening of bootie. Ch3 (does not count as st), 1dc in ea st and ch around, slst to top of first st at beg of round to join. — 24 dcs

Round 2: Ch2 (does not count as st), *fpdc, bpdc. Rep from * around, slst to top of first st at beg of round to join. — 24 dcs

Round 3: Rep round 2. Fasten off.

Finishing:

Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.

    The booties seem like the opening in the top is big could u use some fine ribbon threaded in to close them up if needed. Not all babies can use them big so the ribbon would work. What do u think please let me know
