I recently placed my first order at Hobbii Yarn’s website. Scroll below to watch my Hobbii Yarn Unboxing video! My plan was to order small quantities of various yarns and colors to get a sampling of some of the yarns. It was very hard to narrow it down because they had great prices, gorgeous color selections and a great free shipping discount if I placed a large enough order.

Check out the yarns and colors I ordered, watch the Hobbii Yarn unboxing video, and also see what kind or knit and crochet projects I had in mind for making or re-making with these yarns.

Here is what I ordered:

Friends Cotton 8/6 Yarn:

This is a 100% cotton, #2 sport weight yarn that comes in balls of 115 yds (105m) per 1.75 oz (50g) balls. I ordered 1 ball each of 6 colors for a couple of reasons. First, I thought it would be helpful to see some of the colors in person before committing to 10 or more balls for making any larger sized project. I would like to make garments with this yarn – pullovers, vests, cardigans, dresses, skirts and shawls. And second, I made sure to choose a gorgeous palette of 6 colors to make something with lots of colors, too. I could experiment with elaborate tapestry crochet or knit color work, or make multi colored motifs for a shawl, coverup or wrap. Either way, garments in solid colors or accessories in multi colors, this is going to be fun! What would you like to see me make with this yarn?

Rainbow Bamboo Yarn:

This is a #2 sport weight yarn that is 60% bamboo viscose, 40% cotton and comes in 273 yds (250g) per 3.5 oz (100g) balls. I love the aqua color I ordered, and was so tempted to just get an entire bag of 10 to make a garment asap in this yarn but I showed great restraint and just ordered one ball to sample and swatch with it first. I see so much potential with this yarn for lace with amazing drape, so shawls and garments for sure! What would you like to see me knit and crochet with this yarn?

Mega Ball Aran, 400 g Yarn:

This yarn #5 bulky, 100% acrylic yarn. It is Oeko-tex certified and is spun by one of the best producers of acrylic yarns in the world. Forget about stiff and itchy acrylic! And it comes in a whopping 765 yds (700m) per 14.1oz (400g) ball! Wow! What CAN’T you make with this gigantic ball of yarn? A one ball afghan sounds exciting! So does a 1 ball poncho, a large duster cardigan or oversized hoodie pullover! What would you like to see me knit or crochet with this yarn?

Tencel Bamboo Fine Yarn:

This is a #1 fingering weight yarn that is 40% tencel / 60% bamboo and comes in 230 yds (210m) per 1.75 oz (50gm) balls. I am certain this yarn will have incredible drape and beg to be knit or crocheted into lace masterpieces. I ordered 2 balls in one color to immediately make a lace shawl with it. I think this yarn is going to be a great substitute for any of my fingering weight knit and crochet patterns. What would you like to see me knit or crochet with this yarn?

Soft Bamboo Double Yarn:

This is a #2 sport weight, 70% bamboo / 23% cotton / 7% acrylic yarn. It comes in 126 yds (115m) per 1.75 oz (50g) balls. The bamboo has amazing drape and sheen, and the cotton and acrylic will help it hold its shape. I want to make lace garments, shawls and accessories with this yarn. I think this yarn is going to be a great substitute for any of my sport weight knit and crochet patterns. What would you like to see me knit or crochet with this yarn?

Snowstorm Yarn:

This yarn is a #5 bulky weight 100% wool yarn and comes in balls of 55 yds per 1.75 oz (50gm) balls. I ordered 3 complementary colors thinking that some color work and possibly some felting would be really interesting with this yarn. A matching hat and cowl in tapestry crochet or knit slip stitch mosaic would be really pretty. And combining color work with felting for a bag might be fun, too. What would you like to see me knit or crochet with this yarn?

Baby Cotton Organic Yarn Color Pack:

This yarn is #1 fingering weight yarn, 100% organic Egyptian cotton and comes in balls of 186 yds per 1.75 oz (50g) balls. This color pack features 2 balls each of 5 colors in a beautiful pale green/blue palette. I am interested in doing some beautiful color work with this yarn. Maybe crochet motifs, tapestry crochet or knit mosaic color work. I think it would be wonderful for knit and crochet beach coverups, lightweight vests, tote bags, lace shawls and baby blankets. What would you like to see me knit or crochet with this yarn?

  1. Ricky Lynn says:

I’m just finishing a full length V shawl that I’ve double crocheted out of dark and light blue one pounder Hobbi yarns and it is so soft and drapey (is that a word?). I added a straight scarf to the collar portion in the light blue matching yarn so I could wear it either as a collar or as a hood. With just a few more finishing touches, I think it will be finished.
