Savannah Knit Vest Pattern by Kristin Omdahl
The Savannah Knit Vest Pattern is a beautifully textured, oversized drapey vest that is very simple to knit. The stitch pattern is easy to memorize and the gathered shaping details on the front yoke are simple and refined. Add a belt for more styling possibilites.
What you will need to make the Savannah Knit Vest Pattern:
- 435 yds or (398m) #5 bulky weight yarn
- US13 (9mm) knitting needles
- 2 extra sets of knitting needles (or 1 extra set of knitting needles and one set of stitch holders) for three needle bind off
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stitch holders
Note: You may use straight or circular knitting needles for this project. I would suggest 24 in (60cm) length circular cord or longer to accommodate the stitches. However, the entire project is worked flat so straights work as well, as long as you can fit all stitches on the needles.
Finished Sizes:
Bust: 42 (52, 62) in 106.7 (132, 157)cm circumference
Length: 25 in (63.5cm)
Shown in size 52 in (132cm) bust.
Gauge:
8 sts / 12 rows = 4 in (10cm) in pattern.
Stitch Guide:
Cast on (CO), bind off (BO), knit (k), purl (p), knit 2 together (k2tog), and knit 3 together (k3tog).
Three Needle Bind Off: Place the stitches to be joined onto two separate needles and hold the needles parallel so that the right sides of knitting face together. Insert a third needle into the first stitch on each of two needles and knit them together as one stitch. *Knit the next stitch on each needle the same way, then use the left tip to lift the first stitch over the second stitch and off the needle. Rep from * until no stitches remain on first two needles, or otherwise stated in pattern.
