To begin, you will need some basic crochet supplies such as a crochet hook, yarn, and a keychain ring or lobster claw. You will also need to have basic knowledge of crochet stitches such as single crochet and double crochet.

To start, choose the colors of yarn you want for the owl keychain, then thread the lobster claws onto the yarn (like you would a bead), You will need three or four different colors for the body, eyes, and beak. Begin by crocheting a small ring and work crochet stitches into then ring, in the round, to create the beginning of the owl’s body. Follow rounds 1 – 3 for the bulk of the body. Then on row 4 you will slip the lobster claw in between stitches at top center of the owl’s head for a centered placement. Fasten off your yarn at the end of row 4.

Next, choose the colors and sequence of yarn you want for the layered eyes and make the large, medium and small eyes. Then, switch to the color of yarn you want for the beak and work a small triangle shape.

This pattern does not feature wings, but this is an option you could add if you like. You would crochet  a row of double crochets on each side of the body using the same color as the body.

Finally, you will assemble the parts to create your very own owl!
