Design Inspiration for the Vienne Leg Warmer Crochet Pattern
As you may already know “52 Crochet Gifts” is my 18th published book, and 5th independently published title. When I wrote books in the traditional publishing industry, I certainly wore less hats and focused only on the designing/writing aspects, but I also had to answer to and receive approval from the publisher on everything I did. Now as an independently published author, I am the publisher, author, designer, illustrator, photographer, model, stylist, layout designer, publicist, marketer, seller, and more. But, I also get to make all the decisions. I designed this gorgeous and cozy crochet leg warmer pattern years ago and the design was turned down by every major publisher I ever pitched the pattern to because it was deemed too sexy for traditional crochet publishing. And I understood. But I absolutely love them for a sexy, feminine vibe for lounge wear. You could totally wear them over jeans or leggings, too. Or wear them for yoga. But I love them as sexy and cozy lounge wear and they are certainly cuter than baggy sweatpants! Plus they are so easy to make.
In this project you will make simple strips of crochet lace and join them as you go to other strips. The same elongated chains that join the strips together double as placement for the laces on the exterior edges to lace up these beauties. While the sizing is somewhat forgiving, to get an idea of what size to make, take your measurement around the widest part of your knee.

What you will need to make the Vienne Leg Warmer Crochet Pattern :

528 (580, 638) yds or 483 (530, 583m) dk weight yarn
-
E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook
-
Yarn needle
-
Scissors
Shown in:
Be So Baby Yarn; 100% milk fiber; 142 yds (130m) per 1.75 oz (50g) ball; color Splash, 4 (5, 6) balls.
Gauge:
Each strip should be 2.25 in (5.7cm) wide, after blocking
Finished Size:
13.5 (15.75, 18) in or 34.3 (40, 45.7) cm wide
Subject to change person by person, the thigh high version is 26 in (66cm) long and to modify for a knee length version, I would stop at 18 in (45.7cm). The length of these legwarmers is totally customizable.
