The Beautiful World of Colors in Yarn by Kristin Omdahl

Throughout history color has played a huge roll in fashion. From royalty dressing in “royal purple” which was so coveted due to its difficulty in processing into a dye. Purple was originally made from Tyrian snails. They had to be boiled in a large vat. It would take thousands of them collected to make just a small amount of the dye. Because of this it was highly coveted and saved for only those with the highest of stations in society. To red dye, made from crushed cochineal bugs and called carmine. It again took a huge number of collected insects to make small batches of dyes for fabrics, string, and yarn.

Today, thanks to more advanced methods we are readily able to enjoy wearing every color of the rainbow plus more. We are very color spoiled here in this century. Since we have such wonderful access and ability to create, I am always expanding my personal color library of crochet and knit yarns I have available on my site.

I feel that color choice is one of the most fun parts of knitting and crocheting. The total freedom to take any pattern and truly make it yours.

Colors convey quite a bit about the wearer – their mood, their personality, likes and personal tastes.

Just to take a look at a few of our stunning colors that are available:

Million Dollar Red Be So Sporty Yarn – Red is an attention getter. It can convey power, strength, boldness, love, passion, and warmth.

Million Dollar Red Be So Sporty Yarn – Red is an attention getter. It can convey power, strength, boldness, love, passion, and warmth.

Amethyst Be so Sporty Yarn – As mentioned above purple tones present a regal luxurious feel.  Our Amethyst is very close to a deep purply indigo. Indigo being the highest-level chakra color it also represents elevated awareness and a high vibrational state of being.

Butterfly Blue Be So Lush Yarn – Blue is known as a calm, relaxed, healing color. Blue evokes images of sky and water. Refreshing, and very zen.

Basil Be so Lush Yarn – This deep grassy green has an earthy feel of getting back to nature. Green is also a color of peace and oneness.

Pink DragonFruit Be So Fine Yarn – is a warm rich magenta/hot pink color that elicits feelings of energy, love, and vibrancy in life.

Chantilly Lace Be So Fine Bling Yarn – this dazzling yarn type takes it to a whole new level. White suggests purity, clarity, and peace while adding in some other worldly sparkle for an eye catching bling!
