Dierdre Bookmark Crochet Pattern & Video from 52 Crochet Gifts Book

Design Inspiration for the Dierdre Bookmark Crochet Pattern

A good book is a nice gift. A good book with a beautiful handmade bookmark is a wonderful gift. This gorgeous lace strip would be amazing as a scarf, worked up on thicker yarn and larger hook for a wider width.

Here are some examples:

300 – 500 yds of Be So Baby Yarn with a J/10 (6mm) crochet hook

or

300 – 500 yds of Be So Sporty or Be So Sporty BLING Yarn with an H/8 (5mm) crochet hook.

Another modification would be to make additional strips and join them to the adjacent strips in the flower petals on the outsides of rows 5 and 6.

Be So Fine BLING is features in this bookmark pattern and it is such a great yarn for this project. The shimmer of the pure silver plied right into the yarn is so special. The way the light makes it shimmer is pretty and the lace details are so delicate. I love the special fringe tassel I designed without cutting yarn so the fringe will last a long time, through the reading and bookmarking your page of many books.

I think reading is such a healthy hobby and creating a handmade gift to encourage the love of reading in others is such a heartfelt and deeply thoughtful gift idea.
