Stay Organized for the Best Crocheting Experience

Stay Organized for the Best Crocheting Experience.

My very best advice to all crocheters of any experience level: Stay Organized for the Best Crocheting Experience.

Keeping your crocheting tools, yarn, and patterns organized can help boost your creativity and ensure that you have everything you need at your fingertips. Here are some tips for staying Organized for the best and most creative crocheting experience.

  • Use a dedicated storage space: Designate a specific area for your crocheting supplies including books, yarn, tools and patterns: such as a shelf, cupboard, or drawer.

There are tons of great bins for organizing your supplies, too. I love the stackable bins with front and top openings with a window to easily see what is inside. Here is my favorite:

  • Sort your supplies: Sort your supplies by type and size, and keep them in separate containers. For example, you might use one container for hooks, another for needles, and another for yarn. Or several containers for yarn!

Yarn can be organized in a variety of ways, too. You can organize by brand, by weight, by fiber content or by color. I prefer to organize by brand first, then by weight, then by fiber content and color. But you should organize your yarn the way that works best for you.

Let me know in the comments which way YOU like to organize your yarns!

  • Label everything: Label your containers with the contents inside, so you can easily find what you need.

Whether you handwrite your labels, or invest in a small labeling machine (which is SO FUN by the way), staying organized with labels is a great way to take control of your supplies.

  • Update your Crocheting Organization on a Regular Basis

Whether it is after each project is finished, or on a monthly or bi-monthly schedule, maintaining your organization is the key to keeping yourself on track. I find that the more organized I am, the more headspace I have for creativity – which the the whole point in the first place!

  • Keep a crocheting organization notebook: Keep a notebook or binder to organize your crochet patterns, notes, and project ideas. You might also include a list of your current projects and the supplies you need for each.

  • Also keep an inventory of all your crocheting patterns, books, magazines and podcasts for easy access to all the crochet resources you want to have at your fingertips.
